Born September 10, 1916 in Ophir, Utah, to Jay Blundell and Katherine Mary O'Rourke Smuin. Married Pauline Goates, September 15, 1938, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died August 21, 1977. Married Velda Fox in 1978; they were later divorced. With his brother Jack, he ran a roller skating business for many years, taking skates to church cultural halls in small towns throughout Utah. They operated a roller skating rink in Lehi and "Park RoShe" in Spingville before World War II. During the war, Boyd ran a portable skating rink out of a circus tent in central downtown Provo. After the war he and his brother built Riverside Skating Rink on Columbia Lane, which they ran for many years, selling the business in 1975. He worked as maintenace foreman in the blast furnace at Geneva Steel, retiring in 1976, after 35 years. High Priest in the LDS Church. Had served in the Elders Quorum Presidency, Young Mens Presidency, ward dance director. Active in the Lehi Lions Club, served as Zone Chairman and Deputy District Governor. Chairman of North Utah County Cancer Society. With his wife, Pauline, served in many civic organizations. Boyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and gardening.Survived by three daughters, Mrs. Dwayne (Paulette) Rawlings, Orem; Mrs. William (Katherine) Hill, LaHabra, California; Mrs. Sammual (Jayleen) Wycherley, Lehi; ten grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Funeral Monday, April 15, 1991, 11 a.m., Wing Mortuary Chapel, Lehi, where friends may call Sunday, 7-9 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to service. Interment: Lehi City Cemetery.14

oObit*4 March 2009  On 4 March 2009 at Logan, Cache County, Utah. Lida LaVerne Smuin passed through the veil on March 3, 2009. LaVerne was born July 21, 1920, and lived a very full and active 88 years despite suffering for many years with severe rheumatoid arthritis.
LaVerne and John Albert Smuin were married on March 22, 1937. Albert passed away on June 16, 1992. They had two daughters, La Rue Allen who passed away in 1995, and Ruth Allen, who with her husband, Larry Allen, have been taking care of Mom for many years.
La Verne loved the Lord and her church work and her family. Many family members have received lovely handcrafted tokens of her affection through the years and have valued associating with her. She has been a tower of strength through her trials in life and will be remembered as a light of hope and courage.
LaVerne leaves a heritage to be proud of. She is survived by 12 grandchildren - one preceded her in death; 40 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren. Her little doggie companion, Katie, was with her constantly and was a comfort in her later years.
There will be a funeral at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2009, at the Allen-Hall Mortuary. All are welcome. A special graveside service will follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the LDS Church's humanitarian service.10 
Burial7 March 2009 She was buried on 7 March 2009 at Hyrum Cemetery, Hyrum, Cache County, Utah.11
