oObit*15 October 1971  On 15 October 1971 at Butte, Montana. Retired city police officer, Herbert G. O'Neill, 68, of 1127 W. Granite died Thursday in a local hospital. At his retirement in April of this year he had completed more than 35 years of service with the Butte Police Department.
A Butte native, he was born Aug 11, 1903 and attended local schools. He was appointed a patrolman in 1936 under Mayor Charley Hauswirth and his appointment was in 1937. He was the oldest police officer in age and point of service when he retired.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; son, William P., Whittier, Calif, a granddaughter and other relatives in Montana, Washington, and California.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Saturday at 11:30 in Immaculate Conception Church. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery. Thre Rosary will be recited Friday at 7:30 in Dolan's Mortuary.20

(Mentioned) oObit9 December 1924 Elise Olwin Collins was mentioned in the obituary of Edward Backhouse York on 9 December 1924 at Butte, Montana; Funeral services in memory of Edward York were held at the Silver Bow Spiritual church Sunday afternoon. The church was filled with relatives and friends who had learned to know and esteem him during his 44 years of residence in Butte. He was a spiritualist for many years and did pioneer work in the movement in this locality. Edward York was born in Alderney, an island of the British channel, November 8, 1859, coming with his parents when a small child to America, where his family located in Pennsylvania. He came to Butte in 1880, where he and his family have since lived.
Surviving him are a sister, Mrs Jane Hunter of Scranton, Pa; two daughters, Miss Edna York and Mrs Jessie Carlyle of Syracuse, N.Y., and a number of nieces and nephews in Montana. Six of his nephews acted as pallbearers and his grandniece, Miss Elise Collins, sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "It Is Well With My Soul". William McLellan sang "Lead Kindly Light" and "Face to Face." Mrs Myra P. Paul conducted the service assisted by Rev. M. E. G. Howe.11

The table was centered with a beautiful basket of carnations and baby "mums" and dainty place cards marked covers for the honor guests and Mr. and Mrs. T. H. York, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ham, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Ham, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ruland, Edward Ham, Mrs. Dora Stevens, Mrs. Joseph York, Joseph York jr., Mr. and Mrs. William Mitchell, Mrs. Olive Collins, Miss Elsie Collins, Miss Stella Hudson, Mrs. Ada O'Neill, Mrs. Birdie Tonkin, Paul Tonkin, Mrs. Florrie Hudson, Will McClelland, Miss Margaret Bateman, Mr. and Mrs. Langhorn, James Bateman, Mrs. James Cox, Miss Mildred Drew, Miss Ella Brown, Miss Jennie May Ham, Miss Ellen Tonkin, Miss Shirley Ross Rogers, Thomas Mills, Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Ham, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ham, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas York and the hostess. Following the serving open house was held for the many old friends of Mr. and Mrs. Beck, who are descendants of pioneers of Burlington, Mont. This is the first trip here in 25 years. Mrs. Beck is a sister of Mrs. Fred Ham and T. H. York. During the evening of music and games Mrs. Beck and daughter were presented with lovely gifts. Many delightful affairs have been given for them during their stay in the city. Among them was the reception given by Mrs. William Mitchell, 700 South Main, for the pioneers of Burlington, numbering about 20.12

Services will be Thursday at 11 in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home with the Rev. John Bartram fficiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.19

Many delightful affairs have been given for them during their stay in the city. Among them was the reception given by Mrs. William Mitchell, 700 South Main, for the pioneers of Burlington, numbering about 20.7
