Centerville, Utah — Our sweet mother, Dixie Pearl Dansie Jensen, passed away at home in the early hours of September 29, 2018.
She was born May 2, 1929 in Salt Lake City, UT to Julian and Ruby Dansie. After her mother's death, when she was eight years old, she was given the gift of another mother, Lyona, who helped raise her.
Dixie loved people. She was sweet and kind to everyone. Her favorite hobbies included family, friends, and decorating. Dixie's pride and joy were her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved family gatherings while eating homemade ice cream, family reunions at Bear Lake, and friend groups.
Dixie and Dave lived in their beautiful Centerville home for 57 years.
She is survived by her husband, David L. Jensen, her four children, Richard (Roslyn) Jensen, Brad (Susan) Jensen, Julianne Brady, Jill (Ron) Mortensen, 22 grandchildren, and 36 great grandchildren. Siblings, Alvin (Linda) Dansie, Donette (Mark) Flandro, Charles (Carol) Dansie, LeGrand (Joyce) Dansie, Jane (Dennis) Crandall, Mike (Joyce) Dansie, and Nina (Frank) Henderson.
Special thanks to Mariur Cardenas and the Comfort WoRx Hospice team, and our wonderful nurse, Carol, and aide, Joe.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 5, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Centerville South Stake Center, 270 North 300 East, Centerville, Utah. A viewing will be held from 9:30 - 10:30 AM prior to the service on Friday, and on Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah. Interment will be at the Centerville City Cemetery, Centerville, Utah.1

Born in Scranton, son of the late Joseph Kohut and Helen Butkiewicz, Bob was a member of Peckville First United Methodist Church and a graduate of Dickson City High School. He was a graduate of electronics vocational school in Washington, D.C. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post 665 in Dickson City. He was also a 60-year member and past president of Eagle Hose Compnay 1 in Dickson City and a member of Kingsbury Masonic Lodge 466 F&AM in Olyphant, the Scottish Rite Bodies of Lackawanna County and the Irem Temple Shrine, Dallas. Before retirement, he worked at Tobyhanna Army Depot and the state Department of Forestry for 38 years.
Also surviving are a brother, Joseph, Johnstown; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Edwards Walsh and husband, Thomas, Royersford; his godchild, Holly Walsh Verderame, Oxford; three nephews, Eric and Damian Walsh; and Nick Verderame; and a niece, Alexa Verderame.
Bob was also preceded in death by a brother, Thomas.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Robert E. Decker Funeral Home, 702 River St., Peckville, with services by the Rev. Michael Shambora, pastor of Peckville First United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Peckville.4

Mrs. Clara York Nicholls, 66, pioneer resident of Golden, was found dead Monday at her home, 817 14th street, by her son Foster Nicholls, who returned home at noon. A sudden heart attack was the cause of her death. She was sitting at the table writing a card to her daughter, Mrs. Cervus Stephens, when the end came, between 11:110 and 12 noon.
Mrs. Nicholls had been suffering from a heart ailment for some time, hut had been able to be up and around for the past few weeks, following a serious illness, when she was bedfast for six weeks.
Clara York was born in Nanticoke, Pa., March 30, 1872. She came to Golden with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. George York when she was ten years of age, and has since made her home in this city. She was married in Golden to John Nicholls, prominent Golden man, in February 1890. To this union were horn four children, all of whom survive. Mr. Nicholls passed away here October 26, 1908.
The late Mr. Nicholls was prominent in civic, industrial and fraternal affairs of Golden, from the time he arrived here in 1873 until his death, and served as public official in many capacities. He served as county commissioner of Jefferson county for two years and was sheriff of this county for several terms. Mr. Nicholls was engaged in coal mining for a number of years and did much toward developing the coal industry in this vicinity, when Golden was the center of the coal industry.
Mrs. Nicholls had been a member of Mount Lookout Circle, No. 75, Neighbors of Woodcraft for over thirty-five years, and had also been a member of the Golden Rebekah lodge for a number of years, always taking an active part in activities of these organizations.
She is survived by two sons. Foster and Clarence Nicholls, Golden; two daughters, Mrs. Estella Haynes, Pueblo and Mrs. Cervus Stephens, Walsenburg, Colo; six grandchildren, Vivian Haynes, who made her home here with Mrs. Nicholls, Miriam Haynes and Mrs. Eleanor Noble, Pueblo, Clara and Clarence Nicholls. Golden, Alfreda Stephens, Walsenburg; one great grandchild. Jan Noble: five sisters, Mrs. Florence Hutson, Mrs. William Mitchell. Mrs. Bert Burroughs, all of Butte. Mont., Misses Emma and Ada York, Wyoming, Pa; and two brothers, George York, Wyoming Pa., and Thos. York, Wyoming, Pa.
Funeral services will he held at the Woods Mortuary chapel at 2:30 p. m. Saturday, May 28. Rev. H. G. Ellsworth will officiate. Interment will be in Golden cemetery.5

October 16, 1891, and when seven years of age came to Golden with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. John Hyland, and has since made her home here. She was married to Clarence Nicholls in this city. July 6, 1916. She was a member of Golden Rebekah Lodge, No. 8 and was a Past Noble Grand of that order. She is also a member of Mount Lookout Circle. No. 75. Neighbors of Woodcraft. Surviving her are her husband, one daughter, Clara, 15; one son, Clarence Jr., 12; father, John Hyland of this city and one sister, Mrs. Mabel Van Dorph of Cumberland. Md. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Woods mortuary chapel. Rev. Garrett S. Tamminga will officiate. Burial will be made in Crown Hill cemetery. Golden Rebekahs are requested to meet at the hall at 1:30 o'clock Friday to attend the funeral and accompany the body to the cemetery.4

Mrs. Clara York Nicholls, 66, pioneer resident of Golden, was found dead Monday at her home, 817 14th street, by her son Foster Nicholls, who returned home at noon. A sudden heart attack was the cause of her death. She was sitting at the table writing a card to her daughter, Mrs. Cervus Stephens, when the end came, between 11:110 and 12 noon.
Mrs. Nicholls had been suffering from a heart ailment for some time, hut had been able to be up and around for the past few weeks, following a serious illness, when she was bedfast for six weeks.
Clara York was born in Nanticoke, Pa., March 30, 1872. She came to Golden with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. George York when she was ten years of age, and has since made her home in this city. She was married in Golden to John Nicholls, prominent Golden man, in February 1890. To this union were horn four children, all of whom survive. Mr. Nicholls passed away here October 26, 1908.
The late Mr. Nicholls was prominent in civic, industrial and fraternal affairs of Golden, from the time he arrived here in 1873 until his death, and served as public official in many capacities. He served as county commissioner of Jefferson county for two years and was sheriff of this county for several terms. Mr. Nicholls was engaged in coal mining for a number of years and did much toward developing the coal industry in this vicinity, when Golden was the center of the coal industry.
Mrs. Nicholls had been a member of Mount Lookout Circle, No. 75, Neighbors of Woodcraft for over thirty-five years, and had also been a member of the Golden Rebekah lodge for a number of years, always taking an active part in activities of these organizations.
She is survived by two sons. Foster and Clarence Nicholls, Golden; two daughters, Mrs. Estella Haynes, Pueblo and Mrs. Cervus Stephens, Walsenburg, Colo; six grandchildren, Vivian Haynes, who made her home here with Mrs. Nicholls, Miriam Haynes and Mrs. Eleanor Noble, Pueblo, Clara and Clarence Nicholls. Golden, Alfreda Stephens, Walsenburg; one great grandchild. Jan Noble: five sisters, Mrs. Florence Hutson, Mrs. William Mitchell. Mrs. Bert Burroughs, all of Butte. Mont., Misses Emma and Ada York, Wyoming, Pa; and two brothers, George York, Wyoming Pa., and Thos. York, Wyoming, Pa.
Funeral services will he held at the Woods Mortuary chapel at 2:30 p. m. Saturday, May 28. Rev. H. G. Ellsworth will officiate. Interment will be in Golden cemetery.5

Mr. Haynes owns and operates a grocery store in Pueblo. Surviving her are: her husband. Earl Haynes; three daughters, Mrs. Vivian Malenk. Golden. Mrs. Ellenor Noble and Miss Miriam Haynes. Pueblo; one grandson. Jan Noble, Pueblo; two brothers. Clarence and Foster Nicholls, Golden: and one sister, Mrs. Cervus Stephens, Walsenburg, Colo. Funeral services were held from the Rouch Mortuary in Pueblo. Saturday, with Rev. Sutton, Baptist minister of Pueblo, officiating. Interment was in the MountView cemetery in Pueblo. Mrs. Clara York Nicholls, 66, pioneer resident of Golden, was found dead Monday at her home, 817 14th street, by her son Foster Nicholls, who returned home at noon. A sudden heart attack was the cause of her death. She was sitting at the table writing a card to her daughter, Mrs. Cervus Stephens, when the end came, between 11:110 and 12 noon.
Mrs. Nicholls had been suffering from a heart ailment for some time, hut had been able to be up and around for the past few weeks, following a serious illness, when she was bedfast for six weeks.
Clara York was born in Nanticoke, Pa., March 30, 1872. She came to Golden with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. George York when she was ten years of age, and has since made her home in this city. She was married in Golden to John Nicholls, prominent Golden man, in February 1890. To this union were horn four children, all of whom survive. Mr. Nicholls passed away here October 26, 1908.
The late Mr. Nicholls was prominent in civic, industrial and fraternal affairs of Golden, from the time he arrived here in 1873 until his death, and served as public official in many capacities. He served as county commissioner of Jefferson county for two years and was sheriff of this county for several terms. Mr. Nicholls was engaged in coal mining for a number of years and did much toward developing the coal industry in this vicinity, when Golden was the center of the coal industry.
Mrs. Nicholls had been a member of Mount Lookout Circle, No. 75, Neighbors of Woodcraft for over thirty-five years, and had also been a member of the Golden Rebekah lodge for a number of years, always taking an active part in activities of these organizations.
She is survived by two sons. Foster and Clarence Nicholls, Golden; two daughters, Mrs. Estella Haynes, Pueblo and Mrs. Cervus Stephens, Walsenburg, Colo; six grandchildren, Vivian Haynes, who made her home here with Mrs. Nicholls, Miriam Haynes and Mrs. Eleanor Noble, Pueblo, Clara and Clarence Nicholls. Golden, Alfreda Stephens, Walsenburg; one great grandchild. Jan Noble: five sisters, Mrs. Florence Hutson, Mrs. William Mitchell. Mrs. Bert Burroughs, all of Butte. Mr. Haynes owns and operates a grocery store in Pueblo. Surviving her are: her husband. Earl Haynes; three daughters, Mrs. Vivian Malenk. Golden. Mrs. Ellenor Noble and Miss Miriam Haynes. Pueblo; one grandson. Jan Noble, Pueblo; two brothers. Clarence and Foster Nicholls, Golden: and one sister, Mrs. Cervus Stephens, Walsenburg, Colo. Funeral services were held from the Rouch Mortuary in Pueblo. Saturday, with Rev. Sutton, Baptist minister of Pueblo, officiating. Interment was in the MountView cemetery in Pueblo. Mrs. Clara York Nicholls, 66, pioneer resident of Golden, was found dead Monday at her home, 817 14th street, by her son Foster Nicholls, who returned home at noon. A sudden heart attack was the cause of her death. She was sitting at the table writing a card to her daughter, Mrs. Cervus Stephens, when the end came, between 11:110 and 12 noon.
Mrs. Nicholls had been suffering from a heart ailment for some time, hut had been able to be up and around for the past few weeks, following a serious illness, when she was bedfast for six weeks.
Clara York was born in Nanticoke, Pa., March 30, 1872. She came to Golden with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. George York when she was ten years of age, and has since made her home in this city. She was married in Golden to John Nicholls, prominent Golden man, in February 1890. To this union were horn four children, all of whom survive. Mr. Nicholls passed away here October 26, 1908.
The late Mr. Nicholls was prominent in civic, industrial and fraternal affairs of Golden, from the time he arrived here in 1873 until his death, and served as public official in many capacities. He served as county commissioner of Jefferson county for two years and was sheriff of this county for several terms. Mr. Nicholls was engaged in coal mining for a number of years and did much toward developing the coal industry in this vicinity, when Golden was the center of the coal industry.
Mrs. Nicholls had been a member of Mount Lookout Circle, No. 75, Neighbors of Woodcraft for over thirty-five years, and had also been a member of the Golden Rebekah lodge for a number of years, always taking an active part in activities of these organizations.
She is survived by two sons. Foster and Clarence Nicholls, Golden; two daughters, Mrs. Estella Haynes, Pueblo and Mrs. Cervus Stephens, Walsenburg, Colo; six grandchildren, Vivian Haynes, who made her home here with Mrs. Nicholls, Miriam Haynes and Mrs. Eleanor Noble, Pueblo, Clara and Clarence Nicholls. Golden, Alfreda Stephens, Walsenburg; one great grandchild. Jan Noble: five sisters, Mrs. Florence Hutson, Mrs. William Mitchell. Mrs. Bert Burroughs, all of Butte. Mont., Misses Emma and Ada York, Wyoming, Pa; and two brothers, George York, Wyoming Pa., and Thos. York, Wyoming, Pa.
Funeral services will he held at the Woods Mortuary chapel at 2:30 p. m. Saturday, May 28. Rev. H. G. Ellsworth will officiate. Interment will be in Golden cemetery.4

February 6, 1896, the daughter of the late John and Clara Nicholls, pioneer Golden resident. She was retired in Golden and received her education in the Golden schools, graduating from Golden high school. She was united in marriage to Earl Haynes of this city, in Sterling, Colo.. 27 years ago. Two years after their marriage they moved to Pueblo, Colo., which has since been their home. Mr. Haynes owns and operates a grocery store in Pueblo. Surviving her are: her husband. Earl Haynes; three daughters, Mrs. Vivian Malenk. Golden. Mrs. Ellenor Noble and Miss Miriam Haynes. Pueblo; one grandson. Jan Noble, Pueblo; two brothers. Clarence and Foster Nicholls, Golden: and one sister, Mrs. Cervus Stephens, Walsenburg, Colo. Funeral services were held from the Rouch Mortuary in Pueblo. Saturday, with Rev. Sutton, Baptist minister of Pueblo, officiating. Interment was in the MountView cemetery in Pueblo. Those from Golden who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Graves, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Nicholls, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Malenk, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Williams, Mrs. Hattie Petrie, Mrs. William Jennings.
