oObit*9 October 2014  On 9 October 2014 at Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah. Bob Brent Brewer, age 90, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2014 while surrounded by his family.
Born in Ogden, Utah on May 30, 1924, he was the second son of Chauncey W. Brewer and Josephine Skeen.
His family moved from Ogden to Salt Lake City when he was four years old. He graduated from East High School in 1941 and attended the University of Utah for two years, where he was a member of the football team.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II as an aviator. There, he was commissioned as an ensign and trained to fly fighter aircraft, including the carrier-based F6F-Hellcat. Japan surrendered, however, before he could complete his training and be sent into combat.
After the war, he and his brother, Jack, obtained a hard-to-get license to sell products from US Rubber Company and started a business, Royal Tire Center, which had two stores in Salt Lake City and, for a time, one in Provo.
Eventually, Bob bought out Jack's share of the company and ended up running or co-running Royal Tire Center for more than forty years.
Bob loved the outdoors and was fond of fishing and hunting with his family. He particularly loved the family's annual fishing excursion to the Green and Newfork Rivers in Wyoming, accompanied by his sons, his brothers, and all their sons.
He enjoyed playing golf with his friends and spent a great deal of time, especially in his later years, golfing at the Hidden Valley Country Club, where he was a director for a number of years.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jack and Tom; and son, Robert. He is survived by his sister, JoAnn Hibbard. Bob and Ruth Noorda have four surviving children, Terry Brent (Judy) Brewer, Corey Chan (Terrie) Brewer, Kelly Scott Brewer, and Sherri Lee (Scott) Cook. He has twenty grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Our House for their loving care and for the kindness shown to the them.
Funeral services will be held at Wasatch Lawn, 3401 South Highland Drive (1495 East), on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 10:00a.m. There will be a short viewing held prior to the services beginning at 9:00 a.m.
